Home » Cars » Honda Civic hatchback facelift – sole 1.5 RS variant, Honda Sensing safety suite, RM168k in Thailand

The Honda Civic hatchback facelift has arrived in Thailand, following the arrival of its facelifted sedan sibling earlier towards the end of last year. Launched in sole RS trim, this variant goes for 1.229 million baht (RM167,871) in the Land of Smiles, compared to 1,219,000 baht for the RS variant sedan.

The facelifted five-door Civic features the company’s 1.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder which produces 173 hp at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque between 1,700 rpm and 5,500 rpm – figures identical to those in the Civic sedan. Transmission also mirrors the sedan’s, where a CVT sends drive to the front wheels.

As with the sedan, the Civic hatchback gets redesigned bumpers front and rear for this update, as well as gloss black accents for its front grille and bumper trim surrounds. Unique to the Civic hatchback is its central twin exhaust pipe configuration, which is mated with a black diffuser assembly beneath the rear bumper. Rolling stock is a set of 17-inch wheels shod in 215/50R17 tyres.

Equipment-wise, the sole RS trim variant gets the Honda Sensing suite which is comprised of the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow (ACC with LSF), lane keeping assist system (LKAS), road departure mitigation system with land departure warning (RDM with LDW) and automatic high-beam.

Additional safety kit includes LaneWatch blind spot monitoring, auto brake hold, hill start assist, stability control (VSA) and a multi-angle rear view camera. Additional equipment also includes remote engine start and Honda Connect for the Thai market.

Though the facelifted Civic hatchback comes in just one trim level for Thailand, this brings an exterior palette that is comprised of Sonic Gray Pearl, Rallye Red, Platinum White Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl. Additionally, the facelifted Civic hatchback for Thailand can be optioned with Modulo accessories including wheels, mirror trim and chrome garnish.

RM168k, add another 20k to dress up as CTR. Better for Ah Bengs than buying the real one at RM300k which noone can tell.

The Civic hatchback has arrived in Thailand but Malaysia has yet to launch the facelift Honda Civic. What’s the purpose of the delay? If that’s a form of marketing, then you have got it wrong Honda.

Cannot! They have Type R to sell! If they also sold the hatchback variant, expect 0 sales for Type R but then you see plenty of “Type Rs” on the road later.
